Travis Chaput joined Wharton-Smith in 2023 and currently serves as Corporate Safety Director, working in our Sanford, Florida headquarters.
Before joining Wharton-Smith, Travis served as a Special Forces Engineer with the United States Army Special Forces, deploying multiple times to the Middle East, learning trades such as electrical, carpentry, masonry, welding, and plumbing. After the Army, Travis began his construction career climbing cell phone towers, eventually becoming a Union Journeyman Ironworker. From the union, Travis transitioned into a safety role at Cockram Scenario, where he focused on projects in the entertainment sector. Most recently, Travis worked for Brasfield and Gorrie, covering the major Florida markets, and served on the Alliance for Central Florida Safety board.
As Corporate Safety Director, Travis assists regional management teams in defining and monitoring corporate HSE culture, policies, practices, and procedures. He will facilitate developing, implementing, maintaining, auditing, and reviewing federal, state, and local laws and regulations.
Travis sits on the Central Florida ABC Safety Committee and is a certified Health and Safety Technician from the Board of Certified Safety Professionals. He holds ASSP Certificates in Leadership in Safety Management, Safety Management, and Risk Management. Travis’s approach to leadership and safety is “People are Priority.”
As a husband and father of two young children, Travis’s free time is primarily dedicated to his family. He coaches his son’s football team and loves camping and all things outdoors. When not occupied by work or family, Travis enjoys giving back to his community, especially the veteran community.
