On July 24, to celebrate the early substantial completion of the Bates Ave Waste Water Treatment Plant Expansion in Eustis, Wharton-Smith invited the City of Eustis Public Utilities department and team members from Wright-Pierce Engineering to a barbecue luncheon catered by Mission BBQ. See photos.
The project moved swiftly and efficiently, finishing four months ahead of schedule. The over $12 million job involved the construction of a new Biological Nutrient Removal consisting of fine bubble diffusers in the aerobic zone, submersible mixers in the anoxic zone, and two submersible internal recycle pumps. One additional 1400 GPM effluent turbine pump was added, along with four new tertiary disk filter trains with new backwash/waste pumps and control for automation.
“The cohesion between the Owner, Engineer, and ourselves was evident from day one,” said Project Manager Cillian Gowan. “The project’s success was made in no small part by the teams at Wright-Pierce and the City of Eustis. I also want to express our gratitude to our main subcontractors who worked on this project, Sinns & Thomas Electrical, Revere Controls, Exceletech Coating, and Harty Tractor, for their outstanding workmanship and professionalism.”
