‘Tis the Season for Giving!

As the holiday season wraps up, we’re reflecting on the incredible generosity of our Wharton-Smith family and industry partners. Across our regions, the spirit of giving was alive and well, bringing joy and support to our communities. Here’s a recap of the wonderful efforts:

Bay Laurel, Marion County, and The Villages: Food Supply Drive Success

This year, Denise Hatton, Operations Coordinator, and her team raised $1,250.00 in cash and food during a Food Supply Drive. The donations were given to St. Margaret’s Episcopal Church in Inverness, FL, whose food pantry supports low and no-income families. The church expressed heartfelt gratitude for our contributions, which made a significant difference in filling their shelves.

A HUGE shoutout to Wharton-Smith industry partners and our super generous Superintendents and Project Managers for going the extra mile with their support. Special thanks to Lsp Nursery Inc and John Robinson of JR Enterprises.

Tampa Office: Supporting Joshua House

Our Tampa office partnered with Joshua House to bring holiday cheer to abused, abandoned, and neglected children in their community. Employees generously provided gifts, making the season a little brighter for those kids. Learn more about the impactful work of Joshua House at Friends of Joshua House.

Charlotte: Promise Youth Development

The Carolinas Region hosted a Christmas Donation Drive for middle and high school youth, collecting age-appropriate gifts and over $1,000 in gift cards for Promise Youth Development in Charlotte. This local organization provides mentorship programs tailored for teenagers facing the challenges of adolescence. Founder Tesha Boyd personally came to pick up the donations, expressing her deep gratitude and sharing the organization’s story with our team.

“It was great to see our Commercial and Water teams here in Charlotte come together to support such a great organization as Promise Youth Development during our Christmas Party so that a few more middle and high school-aged students here in Charlotte can have something to open on Christmas morning,” said Area Manager Scott Whelchel.  “Thank you to everyone who participated and supported!”

South Florida Clothing Drive: Supporting Disabled Veterans

In another act of kindness, South Florida Project Superintendent Joe Tromba and his crew donated 11 boxes of clothing to Disabled Veterans, helping those who have served our country. The collection was part of a long-standing tradition of organizing clothing drives at various job sites, inspired by the incredible work of Tunnel to Towers.

To all who contributed to these efforts, thank you for making the season brighter for so many. Your generosity embodies the true spirit of the holidays and what it means to build communities.
