On January 17, Wharton-Smith and its subcontractors celebrated a significant construction milestone with the topping-out ceremony for the new Charlotte County Sheriff and Supervisor of Elections facilities. See photos.

Team members, project partners, and local officials gathered to commemorate this achievement. The ceremony included a delicious catered lunch from Smoke’n Pit BBQ in North Fort Myers, and attendees participated in a raffle that included televisions, tools, gift cards, and more.

“Topping-out celebrations are always a special time for our team to recognize all the crew members for their hard work,” said Project Executive John Carlson. “This topping-out celebration recognized not just one project, but two projects located on the same site that reached this milestone together.  I want to thank not only the Wharton-Smith team, but all our trade partners, the crew members, the Charlotte County Facilities Management Department, and the Design Team for all of their efforts to keep these projects moving forward despite excessive rain and multiple hurricanes in 2024.  It is an honor to bring these critical projects to fruition for the residents of Charlotte County.”

Once completed, the new facilities will provide modern, hurricane-hardened state-of-the-art spaces for the Charlotte County Sheriff’s Office and the Supervisor of Elections. Congratulations to the project team and partners for their hard work and dedication in reaching this milestone.
