On January 22, Wharton-Smith celebrated the ribbon cutting of the new STEM building addition at the West Melbourne School for Science. Joined by members of the public, the School Board of Brevard County, the City of West Melbourne, Tsark Architecture, students, and staff, guests were treated to a wonderful opening performance by the school choir and orchestra before continuing with the festivities. The new facility, already making a significant impact for those students in art, music, science, and STEM classes, is a 13,000 SF CMU classroom building that included the construction of a new playground, parking lot, and extensions to the existing cafeteria dining area, all while preserving the school garden.

“I want to thank Wharton-Smith and the incredible men and women I got to work with,” said West Melbourne Principal Theresa Benson. “The results are beyond incredible, and I just want to let you know how truly grateful I am as the principal. This journey could not have happened without such a great team effort.”

“This transformational project for West Melbourne School for Science creates spaces for its students to actively participate in STEAM classes and lessons,” said Business Development Manager Matt Passarella. “Wharton-Smith appreciates the investment and vision by the School Board of Brevard County to support this school of choice. A special thanks to our Space Coast team for their commitment to quality and excellence to produce this exceptional building!”

Congratulations to the entire project team!
