This cutting-edge facility is set to be fully operational by the upcoming school year and will begin accepting buses and additional maintenance equipment throughout the summer. Strategically located to support school bus operations across eastern Osceola County, the new facility is expected to significantly cut down on travel time and distance, boosting efficiency and helping reduce transportation costs.
The Transportation East Facility features a 41,000 SF administrative and fleet maintenance building, a dedicated refueling and bus wash station, and 12 state-of-the-art school bus maintenance bays.
“This new Transportation East Facility is more than just a building; it’s an investment in our students, our drivers, and the future of Osceola County,” said Dr. Mark Shanoff, Superintendent of the School District of Osceola County. “By improving the way we manage and maintain our buses, we are ensuring safer, more reliable transportation for thousands of students every day.”
“Working on the Transportation East Facility was a priceless experience,” said Wharton-Smith Superintendent Ben Childers. “Transforming what was once a cow pasture into a state-of-the-art maintenance facility capable of housing up to 200 buses and featuring 34 acres of paving, a bus wash, and a fueling depot was a rewarding challenge. The finished product, delivered to the School District of Osceola County, was a much-needed and impactful addition to their operations.”
