On July 17, Wharton-Smith joined the City of Statesville, elected officials, city staff, and community members to celebrate the ribbon cutting for the new Municipal Operations Center. See photos.
The event marked the completion of Phases I and II of the multi-phase Municipal Operations Center project, which will ultimately consolidate several public service departments into a single location. Phase 1 focused on the Statesville Public Power Building and the addition of covered parking, while Phase 2 featured a new vehicle maintenance garage, providing updated facilities for maintaining the city’s fleet. Phases 3 and 4 are set to include a warehouse for centralized storage and expansion to incorporate workspaces for the City’s public utilities, public works, and stormwater divisions.
“This project was such a success due in no small part to the great team we were thankful to be a part of alongside the City of Statesville,” said Area Manager Scott Whelchel. “We’re excited to continue to help play a role in supporting the community and the growth of the City of Statesville.
