On August 19, the City of Largo celebrated the grand opening of Fire Station 39 with a ribbon-cutting ceremony. Wharton-Smith, City officials, Largo Fire Rescue, and community members gathered to mark the completion of this state-of-the-art facility. See photos.

The new station replaces the original Fire Station 39, built in 1974. Designed to meet modern safety and operational standards, the 16,000-square-foot facility includes three apparatus bays, improved decontamination areas, training space, and updated living quarters to better serve Largo firefighters and the growing community.

The project reflects the City’s commitment to both public safety and sustainability, with energy-efficient systems and design features built into the new station. Largo Fire Chief Chad Pittman shared that the modern upgrades will allow firefighters to respond more efficiently to emergencies while maintaining the highest level of service.

“Fire Station 39 stands as a testament to our commitment to safety, sustainability, and community-centered design,” said Director of Operations Johnny Santos. “We are proud to open its doors and look forward to the many ways it will serve our growing community for years to come.”

Congratulations to the entire project team on a job well done!
