WHARTON-SMITH FORMS FOUNDATION

Sanford, FL – Wharton-Smith, Inc. announced today the formation of the Wharton-Smith Foundation. The Wharton-Smith Foundation was created with the intention of purposely expanding the company’s philanthropic endeavors. Wharton-Smith’s aim is to grow the foundation during times of financial prosperity to consistently give back in the future. With its creation also comes the opportunity to grow the foundation with generous contributions from our business partners, employees, and private individuals.

The Wharton-Smith Foundation selected the Central Florida Zoo & Botanical Gardens as its first recipient and has pledged $100,000 to support capital improvements for future new exhibits and the restoration of the Zoo’s Little Florida Railroad miniature train.

The Central Florida Zoo and Wharton-Smith have a long-standing relationship, “…One based on a shared passion for conservation and for the continuing growth of Arts and Culture in Seminole County,” said Tim Smith, Wharton-Smith Executive Vice President.

“We are excited to make our first contribution to this long-time friend,” Ron Davoli, President and CEO of Wharton-Smith added. “It is our desire that this will be the first of many contributions to organizations and local businesses in the communities where we live and work. Charitable giving has long been a staple of Wharton-Smith’s culture, and this foundation is a way to focus our giving and make it meaningful. The Wharton-Smith Foundation is an idea that our founder and current Chairman of the Board, George Smith, has advocated for, and we are proud to announce its formation.”

Dino Ferri, CEO of the Central Florida Zoo & Botanical Gardens, praised Wharton-Smith for their longterm commitment to Seminole County’s largest attraction.

“We are extremely honored that Wharton-Smith has selected the Central Florida Zoo to be its first honoree for the Wharton-Smith Foundation. Their friendship and partnership over the years has been something we could always count on. As the Zoo recovers from the pandemic, and begins to look toward expansion, Wharton-Smith’s contributions will spring-board our growth efforts.”

The Central Florida Zoo & Botanical Gardens, with its 350 animals and 100 species, is a conservation resource providing experiences that excite and inspire children and adults to learn and act on behalf of wildlife. To learn more about the Central Florida Zoo & Botanical Gardens, click here.
