Andy Duthie has served as Wharton-Smith’s Commercial Director of Preconstruction Services since 2017 and boasts more than 30 years of expertise in estimating and preconstruction planning. Andy is responsible for managing the day-to-day commercial preconstruction planning in the corporate headquarters as well as supporting five regional offices. He manages the estimating of projects from concept to start of construction, providing budgeting and building solutions for our owners and clients. In 1987, Andy began his construction career working with a construction cost consulting firm, and in 1989, he joined a construction management company that specialized in building estimating throughout North America in commercial, aviation, institutional, and industrial projects. In addition to his professional experience, Andy is a graduate of Fanshawe College in London, Ontario, with a Construction Management Engineering degree. During his college years, he participated in a student exchange program with the University of Glasgow where he gained experience by working for a construction cost consultant during his time abroad. Andy supports local organizations by participating in their charity events and donating to their causes such as Kids House of Seminole. Andy lives in Lake Mary, Florida, with his family.
