Caryn joined Wharton-Smith in 2017 and has 30 years of experience in the construction industry in Florida. Caryn’s responsibilities include oversight of Wharton-Smith’s North Port office, where she has built a robust team of professionals and oversees Commercial projects from Sarasota to Naples.
Through her community involvement and strong work ethic, Caryn has established excellent relationships with clients, team members, and community leaders, helping Wharton-Smith achieve its vision – to be the Construction Group of Choice in Southwest Florida.
Caryn started at Wharton-Smith as a Project Manager. She was promoted to Sr. Project Manager in 2019 and then Project Executive in 2021. In addition to her professional experience, Caryn is an Auburn University graduate with a building construction degree. Caryn also studied architecture for two years at the University of Florida, is a LEED Accredited Professional, and is a licensed General Contractor.
Caryn is deeply rooted in her community. She has been involved with the Charlotte-DeSoto Building Industry Association since 2018 and was President in 2021. Caryn remains a member of CDBIA’s Professional Women in Building Council and received a Proclamation in 2021 from Charlotte County for her work promoting women in the construction industry. Caryn serves on the advisory board for the School of Construction Management at Florida Gulf Coast University. She also served on the Charlotte County United Way board and remains active in Women United. Caryn is a member of the North Port Chamber Economic Development Committee and the Argus Foundation of Sarasota. Caryn’s greatest passion is her work with her church and the organization Young Life. She has been a Board Member, Prayer Coordinator, and Youth Leader during her involvement with Young Life over the last 12 years.
Caryn lives in Venice, Florida, with her husband Todd. Together, they have five children, three grandchildren, and a Boxer named Elroy.
