
John Janes joined the Wharton-Smith team in 2015 as a Senior Superintendent, bringing with him 30 years of experience from within the construction industry at the time. During his tenure at Wharton-Smith, Johnwas promoted to Area Superintendent in 2021 and General Superintendent in 2025.
John joined the industry in 1985, working with his father on a project as a Union form carpenter. Now with over 40 years of experience, John has worked in various sectors including heavy/highway, industrial, and commercial. Commercially, he’s worked in theme parks, judicial facilities, sports venues, government entities, and educational institutions. His passion and desire to learn have taken him across the country and exposed him to various trade disciplines, gaining invaluable industry knowledge.
John is passionate about his career, the industry, and mentoring others with the knowledge he has gained over the past four decades of navigating construction, while building and fostering lifelong relationships. He believes that people are the fundamental foundation for success, and the investment in those individuals drives all future endeavors.
John resides in Osceola County with his wife, children, and grandchildren. He and his wife enjoy working on small projects around their home and in the yard, and he can often be found cooking in the kitchen, at the grill or smoker, all of which his family appreciates!
