Johnny joined Wharton-Smith in 2015 and has over 36 years of experience in the construction industry. As Director of Operations for Wharton-Smith’s Tampa Commercial Business Unit, Johnny fosters a “one-team” atmosphere through mentorship, open communication, and ongoing support for both teams and clients. He provides guidance in problem-solving, staffing, and project planning while leading efforts to uphold Wharton-Smith’s commitment to excellence and community engagement.
Johnny collaborates closely with Preconstruction Services Managers on bid packages, general condition evaluations, constructability reviews, value engineering, scheduling, and site logistics. His expertise spans public and government sector projects, including fire stations, emergency operations centers, parks and sports facilities, jails and prisons, medical office buildings, and K-12 renovations and new builds.
A firm believer in the power of community, Johnny actively supports organizations such as the Boys and Girls Club, United Way, Starting Right Now, and multiple public school education foundations. He also serves as an Executive Board Member and Secretary for the East and Central Pasco Habitat for Humanity and is on the Advisory Committee for the Lady Coyotes Engineering Club at Cypress Creek High School.
Before joining Wharton-Smith, Johnny held leadership roles at Lend Lease (US) Construction, The A.D. Morgan Corporation, and Electric Machinery Enterprises. He is a Certified General Contractor, Certified Building Contractor, Journeyman Electrician, and a Certified Instructor for electrical apprenticeship programs.
Johnny lives in Pasco County with his wife, Jennifer, their daughter, Olivia, and their two shelter dogs, Tucker and Cooper.
