GENERAL SUPERINTENDENT,COMMERCIAL

Mike Morton currently serves Wharton-Smith in the position of General Superintendent, Commercial. He has worked for Wharton-Smith for over 21 years and has more than 32 years of experience in the construction industry.

Mike’s responsibilities include oversight for the overall performance of all of Wharton-Smith’s 49 commercial superintendents. He is also involved with all commercial projects in preconstruction, construction, and into final completion, assuring both safety and quality control is strictly adhered to on all our projects. He is a trainer and mentor for the younger superintendents in the company and has established and maintained strong working relationships with clients, team members, and architects throughout his years in the construction industry.

Mike joined Wharton-Smith as an Assistant Superintendent in 1998 and worked his way up the ladder to Commercial General Superintendent in 2015. Before joining Wharton-Smith, he owned a general contracting company, Morton Construction Solutions, in Baltimore, Maryland, where Johns Hopkins Health Care System was his primary client. Prior to that, Mike was a union carpenter for seven years working in downtown Baltimore’s growing skyline.

In addition to his professional experience, Mike attended the University of Maryland and was a member of the Alpha Tau Omega fraternity. Following college, Mike served in the U.S. Army Reserve for three years and completed a four-year Carpentry Journeyman’s License for the Baltimore Carpenter’s Local #101.

Mike believes it is a blessing to be able to give back to the communities we live and work in. He has participated in the construction of several new homes in Sanford, Florida, for the Habitat for Humanity and has provided assistance for the staff at the Kids House of Seminole.

Mike lives in Longwood, Florida, with his wife of 32 years, his two sons, and four loveable Chihuahuas. He and his wife love the outdoors and go RV-ing with their sons and pets whenever they get the chance.
