Tom Jakubisin

In the summer of 2022, Tom (TJ) rejoined Wharton Smith as an Area Manager for the South Florida commercial market division. He had previously been a part of the Wharton-Smith family in 2010 & 2011. TJ has more than 35 years of experience in the commercial construction industry. He spent 15 years in operational field management before shifting to positional roles in the office, advancing from Project Manager to Regional Director. TJ’s responsibilities as the Area Manager are all-encompassing. He provides oversight and direction for all personnel, projects, and pursuits in the South Florida commercial division.  TJ engages with clients, subcontractors, industry leaders, local committees, and organizations. He offers operational leadership for the division from pre-construction through close-out and ensures the teams properly serve their client and consistently integrate safety, quality, budget controls, and schedules with the excellence needed to become the Construction Group of Choice. Staying relevant within the community has always been important to TJ. While he stays involved with ABC, CASF, SMPS, Bisnow, and others, the past several years find him more interested in the needs of our first responders. When not volunteering or attending other events TJ likes to read, travel, swim, ride bikes, and go to the beach and/or the mountains. A true native of Florida, TJ was born in Orlando. He raised two wonderful daughters who have now moved on with their careers (they both know how to fix and build things though!). TJ and his wife have one last little person living with them – a 7 lb. Bichon Frise.
