Matt Robertson joined Wharton-Smith as Business Development Executive, Carolinas Commercial Region in May 2022 with over 20 years of commercial development and construction experience. He is committed to building a project pipeline that creates new customer relationships and manages existing key customer partnerships for long-term business growth and success. Matt brings leadership in commercial development and construction using a consultative approach to building client relationships. His experience exemplifies value-added project development know-how helping clients avoid the pitfalls that waste time and money. For over a decade, he developed properties throughout the Mid-Atlantic and Southeast for a national design/build firm. With an in-depth understanding of a project’s life cycle, Matt has led clients through the complexities involved with development by creating high-performing teams of architects, engineers, and consultants to execute collaborative strategies that complete the various stages of real estate development. From acquisition/disposition, entitlements, and master planning to building design, funding procurement, and construction. Over the past decade, Matt has worked with small to mid-sized regional general contractors to build strong repeat client relationships delivering projects via Design/Build, CMAR, and Design/Bid/Build. He is passionate about projects that make a positive impact on communities throughout the Carolinas and has served a diverse portfolio of markets including Community, Education, Healthcare, Senior Living, Faith-Based, and Commercial Office. Matt is a graduate of Virginia Tech in Marketing and Business Management.
