Scott Whelchel joined the Wharton-Smith team as Project Executive – Charlotte Commercial Division in March 2022. Scott brings over 25 years of construction project management experience across the Commercial Residential, Industrial, Faith-Based, Healthcare, and Education markets. Prior to Wharton-Smith, his expertise in construction was gained through his time in positions such as Project Engineer, Assistant Project Manager, Project Manager, Director of Construction, and Business Development Manager for firms around the Southeast. Scott focuses on growing Wharton-Smith’s Charlotte presence by providing oversight of Project Management personnel, promoting business development, and leading operations of commercial projects. Scott has a BS in Construction Engineering and Management from the College of Engineering at NC State University. He is a LEED Accredited Professional, DBIA Professional, and holds certifications in CITCI, OSHA 30, and OSHA 10. In his free time, Scott serves as a Deacon at Myers Park Presbyterian Church and is an active member of the Charlotte Leadership Forum.
