Wharton-Smith is currently serving as the Construction Manager at Risk on the greenfield North WRF for the Bay Laurel Community Development District. The North WRF includes a new 2.5 MGD 5-stage Bardenpho 15,000 lf of force main, 12,500 lf of reclaim main, a new master pump station to divert flow from existing South WRF, and a new public access reuse system including 6.75 MG of reclaimed water storage, effluent pump system, and two RIBS for times of low reuse demand, and a new state-of-the-art operations building.

The initial project scope includes headworks with two (2) Hydrodyne screens and with headcell grit removal, Ovivo 5-stage Bardenpho, two 75-foot Ovivo clarifiers, two (2) Veolia disk filters, a chlorine contact chamber, two digesters and dewatering building with two (2) FKC screw presses. The site required the clearing of approximately 30 acres, installation of a 2.5 mile 20’ stabilized asphalt road, handling of over 295,000 yards of fill and soil improvements, including 3,500 cyds of grout injections. The WRF Phase 1 expansion will allow rerate to a 3.34 MGD facility with the addition of vertical turbine pumps, effluent transfer pumps, and filter.

Phase 2 is a full build-out to 5 mgd with the addition of the third oxidation ditch, electrical room, third clarifier, second equalization basin, third digester, and third screen.
