Wharton-Smith provided Construction Management services for Charlotte County Fire Station #5. The 9,621 square foot fire station includes bunk rooms, offices, secure EMS storage, a fully equipped kitchen, a fitness room, a dayroom, and dedicated decontamination areas. The decontamination areas are located directly off the Apparatus Bay, so that crew members can clean up after a call without entering the living area minimizing the spread of any contamination. These decontamination areas contain bunk gear storage, bunk gear cleaning areas, personnel showers, and a dedicated HVAC system.
The building is considered a hardened building, complete with Level E missile-rated impact glass and doors and a full standby generator fueled by two 1,000-gallon underground LP tanks.
This station will service the residents of south Charlotte County.
