FKAA Cudjoe Key Advanced Water Reclamation Facility (AWRF)

Wharton-Smith provided services for the Cudjoe Key Advanced Water Reclamation Facility for the Florida Keys Aqueduct Authority. The project team constructed new offsite influent force mains and water transmission main to the site along with a 0.94 mgd advanced water reclamation facility. Initial site preparation included the removal of the existing landfill liner, tire chips, and fly ash. The new wastewater treatment plant included an operations building that houses the administrative and personnel areas, process control room, control room, electrical room, and chemical feed and storage; influent screening facilities; two flow equalization basins; two five-stage biological nutrient removal treatment trains, each including anaerobic, 1st anoxic, aeration, 2nd anoxic, and reaeration basins; two secondary clarifiers; two cloth disk tertiary filters; chlorine contact basin, including two serpentine channels and plant effluent reuse pumping facilities; four shallow injection wells; standby power; and site work.
