Liberty Lagoon, operated by the Baton Rouge Recreation and Parks Commission, is one of the most popular water parks in the East Baton Rouge Parish offering water thrill rides and entertainment during the hot summer months. Wharton-Smith acted as general contractor for the park’s recent expansion, which added two new water features containing a freefall drop slide and speed tube slide with platform viewing areas, the addition of a concession building, mechanical room, new paved areas, installation of storm drainage, site work, and landscaping.

The project features the Flow Rider (ShockWave) Simulator, a a simulated ocean wave ride that allows guests to have the experience of surfing or snowboarding in a self-contained water environment with speeds up to 40 miles per hour. It is the first and only Flow Rider in the state of Louisiana.
