Longboat Key Fire Stations #91 and #92

Wharton-Smith, in partnership with Jon F. Swift Construction, provided construction services to the Town of Longboat Key for Fire Stations #91 and #92. This project consisted of an extensive renovation effort to the existing Station #91 while occupied, and the teardown and new construction of Station #92 to serve as a prototype going forward. The services for interior modification for Station #91 include a kitchen, fitness space, restrooms, storage, a decontamination room, and standby power.

Station #92 consisted of the demolition of the existing building with the new fire station being built on the same property. The design of the new station is a one-story three-bay building. The existing fire department staff was housed on-site in a modular fire station. Construction had to be coordinated around staff on-site to allow construction to progress. To optimize efficiencies during the construction process, we performed construction activities at both locations simultaneously with a drastic overlap in the master schedule.
