Wharton-Smith provided preconstruction and construction management services on the new 222,400 square-foot Millennium Middle School campus for Seminole County Public Schools. The projects consisted of a new three-story classroom building, administration/media building, cafeteria, gymnasium, and 800-seat performing arts center in support of the school’s Fine Arts & Communication curriculum. Outdoor athletic facilities include a multi-purpose field and track, tennis, and basketball courts.

The new campus replaces the existing middle school and accommodates approximately 2,066 students. The buildings feature block and brick construction (74 miles of brick!) with large expansive glass windows for maximum daylight and are equipped with hand-on learning technologies to create a 21st century learning environment. The new school was built from a prototype designed by SchenkelShultz Architecture.
