Wharton-Smith provided preconstruction and Construction Management at Risk services to Escambia County School District for the new 801 student station Pleasant Grove Elementary replacement school, which replaced an aging 550 student facility nearby. The project is a new two-story, 137,500 GSF, brick and metal panel clad, ICF and CMU structure with a standing seam metal roof. The building has nearly 50 classrooms, art, music, teacher planning, lab, resource and conference spaces, an administrative area, innovation center, multipurpose auditorium, stage, kitchen, indoor and covered play areas, exterior playgrounds, walking track, basketball courts, kickball field, aluminum covered walkways and multiple courtyards. The total site is 68 acres including approximately 30 acres of jurisdictional wetlands that had to be crossed for access to the property.
