The Screen & Grit Improvements Project was a $6 million change order to the original Electrical Upgrades Project for the City of Fort Myers. The additional scope included to repair and coat the entire headworks channel system, replace the existing screen and grit equipment, and improve the buildings ventilation. On January 2, the Wharton-Smith team turned on a six pump bypass system at the South facility and a similar system was started at Central on February 3. After two very long months of around the clock pump watch and maintenance, the new Hydro-Dyne bar screens are online and the South facility bypass system was shut down on April 2. It is a huge milestone for the Fort Myers team. The team is projecting the second bypass will be offline within the month.
