Sanford, FL – September 1, 2016 – Wharton-Smith, Inc., one of Central Florida’s largest locally based general contractors, has been selected as Construction Manager for the comprehensive addition and renovation project at Orange County Public Schools’ Hillcrest Elementary School. Located in downtown Orlando, the $14.6 million dollar project consists of redeveloping the elementary school campus providing approximately 52,000 square feet of new buildings containing classrooms, administration, dining, media center and support spaces. Renovations totaling 23,000 square feet will be made to the existing facilities. The project will also add a 130-space parking structure.
The comprehensive project is part of Orange County Public Schools’ ongoing initiative to provide improved facilities throughout the district. Construction is expected to begin in July 2017. C.T. Hsu + Associates is the architect for the project.
