Sanford, FL – March 17, 2017 – Wharton-Smith, Inc., one of Central Florida’s largest locally based general contractors, was recently selected as the design-builder for the new Laureate City Park located in Lake Nona. The new park is part of Lake Nona’s long-term plan to provide more options for outdoor activities and recreation to residents across Lake Nona’s 14 square miles.
Encompassing 20.2 acres, the Laureate City Park project will consist of four illuminated regulation soccer fields, playgrounds, pavilion spaces, concessions with restrooms, two shade structures, multi-use trails, parking, designated green spaces, and site furnishings.
The park project will be managed by the Lake Nona Land Company, LLC, and then turned over to the City of Orlando at completion. GAI Consultants is the lead designer on the project. The $3.7 million park is expected to open in 2018.
