Sanford, FL – On October 13, 2017, Wharton-Smith’s Commercial Division joined with representatives from the United States Specialty Sports Association (USSSA) to give appreciation to subcontractors and team members on reaching the 85 percent completion milestone of the new USSSA national headquarters and sports complex in Viera.
Senior Project Superintendent John Janes welcomed and thanked everyone for their hard work on the project. “First and foremost I want to thank everyone for what you do every day,” said Janes. To date we have had over 70,000 man hours with no loss time accidents and we are on target to achieve our goals… from Wharton-Smith and USSSA, we thank you very much for your contribution in making this project successful,” he added.
Encompassing 1.2 million square feet of turf on 85 acres, the complex will consist of a new 8,100-seat championship stadium, eight new multi-purpose fields, a new youth field, and two new two-story concession buildings. In total, the complex will have 15 championship all turf fields. The project is expected to be complete by December 2017.
Prizes such as gift cards, tools, and hats were donated and raffled off to subcontractors on the job. Lunch was provided by Double D’s BBQ.
