Wharton-Smith partnered with Habitat for Humanity of Seminole-Apopka for their 2022 Home Builders Blitz to construct a single-family home for Latarshia Dixon and her children in just eight weeks. See more pictures and video highlights of the build.
Senior Project Manager Stephanie Farmer, Project Manager Corey McBriarty and Project Superintendent Todd Fatzinger enlisted companies from all construction areas and Wharton-Smith team members from Commercial, Water, and Corporate Services. Together, they put their time and know-how into this project to make Latarshia’s dream of homeownership a reality.
A dedication ceremony was held on Nov. 18 to bless the home and present the Dixons with keys to the house. “At the dedication, Habitat employees expressed much gratitude to Wharton-Smith for building this house, as well as their 25 subcontractors for the time, materials, and labor they contributed to this effort,” the Sanford Herald reported.
“Being able to give a home to a family right before the holidays, something they can put their lives and their heart into, is really rewarding,” Stephanie said. “I’m honored to be a part of it. Habitat has a special place in my heart. When you come from humble beginnings, it’s nice to be a part of giving back.”
