On March 30, Wharton-Smith joined Mount Dora Interim Fire Chief Rich Loewer and community members to welcome Station 35 into service with a hose uncoupling ceremony – a fire service tradition similar to a ribbon cutting. See more pictures and video highlights.

Chief Loewer offered his sincere gratitude to the City Council members and project team for their unwavering support and commitment to the safety and well-being of the Mount Dora community. “This new fire station is a testament to our commitment to excellence and a symbol of our promise to continue to serve our community and provide outstanding service. To our partners ADG, Wharton-Smith, and all of our city staff who have been integral in getting this to completion, I thank you.”

The facility is approximately 9,142 square feet, meets stringent survivability and functional criteria, and will also create civic architecture that fosters pride in the community. The $5.1 million station house has crew quarters for six staff per shift and three drive-through apparatus bays. The floor plan promotes functionality, rapid response times, and firefighter health and safety. It also represents the City’s long-term investment in the Mount Dora community and is intended to function for many years.

Congratulations to the project team!
