On September 18, Wharton-Smith team members joined members of the Seminole Tribe of Florida to break ground on the new Community Center in Lakeland, Florida. See pics here and the video here.
Wharton-Smith is serving as the Construction Manager on this new facility for the Seminole Tribe of Florida. The project includes a one-story, 35,000-square-foot public community building with a multipurpose area that will accommodate Tribal gatherings, cultural, educational, and recreational activities, indoor sporting events, and administrative staff for the Lakeland Tribal Community. It will also include administrative offices, a conference room, a culture room, a teaching kitchen, a gymnasium, an outdoor pool, service rooms, landscape design, and on-site parking.
“I feel very privileged to have played a part in helping you get this building because when I’m no longer here, there’s going to be kids that will grow up, and they are going to want to know the history of this property, so today this is part of history,” said Seminole Tribe of Florida Councilmen Larry Howard. “We’re excited to be a part of this community and hit the ground running on the construction of this state-of-the-art facility,” said Steven Gregory, Wharton-Smith Project Manager.
Construction is expected to be complete by Spring of 2025.
