On September 22, Wharton-Smith Team Members in the North Port Office held a subcontractor appreciation luncheon at the Charlotte Sports Park. Among the 50 guests in attendance were two members of Charlotte County, the head groundskeeper for the Tampa Bay Rays, along with management representatives and staff from nearly a dozen subcontractors.

Lunch was catered by neighboring restaurant Twisted Fork and Jilly Cakes, a local family-owned bakery. All attendees received a baseball cap compliments of the Tampa Bay Rays and additional swag from Wharton Smith. A drawing was also held where Rays shirts, as well as monetary gift cards, were raffled off. Two subcontractor employees were recognized for their outstanding safety compliance, one from Sutter Roofing and one from Lee Drywall. Both received $100 gift cards.

Project Manager Mike Nunez thanked all of the subcontractors for their hard work and dedication. “This is a fast-track project with tight timelines. We appreciate all you are doing to get us to the finish line and being flexible throughout the process.”

This project, which includes extensive hurricane repairs to the Tampa Bay Rays Spring Training facility in Port Charlotte, is scheduled to be completed by mid-January in time for Spring Training 2024. Go Rays!
