Hamlin Water Reclamation Facility – Orange County Utilities, Category: Public Work/Environmental, $100-$250 Million
“Winning the ABC Eagle award for this regional facility is a huge accomplishment for the project team. Every day presented new challenges while constructing the project during the Covid Pandemic,” said Drew Gumieny, Project Executive – Central Florida Water. “To reach Substantial Completion two months early from the original contractual duration is a true testament to the dedication and problem-solving abilities of the project team.”
Fire Station #35 – City of Mount Dora, Category: Institutional, $2.5-$5 Million

Orlando Vehicle Maintenance Facility – Brightline Trains, Category: Pre-engineered Metal Buildings, $50-$100 Million
“Receiving the Eagle Award for the Brightline project was an amazing privilege that reminded everyone on the team of the unique challenges that were overcome by innovation & collaboration efforts,” said Luke Green, Assistant Project Manager – Central Florida Commercial. “In partnering with Brightline & Wharton-Smith’s Water Division, the team conquered many obstacles, from working with miles of rail to safely maneuvering through COVID protocols. Way to go team!”
The Eagle Award is the highest recognition bestowed by the American Builders and Contractors (ABC) Central Florida Chapter. The project entries are judged on design execution, quality of craftsmanship, attention to detail, proper installation, outstanding planning and coordination efforts, challenges successfully overcome, project complexity, custom materials, safety program, and owner satisfaction.
