On November 17, Wharton-Smith joined Habitat for Humanity of Seminole-Apopka to turn the keys over to O’Nekay Campbell and her four children, the beneficiaries of a beautiful new four-bedroom home constructed as part of the Home Builder Blitz program. While past Habitat builds have been three-bedroom homes, this is the first time Wharton-Smith has completed a four-bedroom house. See photos here.
Team members from Wharton-Smith, spearheaded by Project Superintendent Todd Fatzinger and Project Manager Keri Stawder, along with over 30 subcontractors and vendors, came together to donate funds, time, materials, and expertise. The behind-the-scenes work began in April to secure donations, and then construction started just after Labor Day, finishing in mid-November. In addition to the daily work done by subcontractors and vendors, Wharton-Smith volunteers participated in five “Work Weekends” to finish the job.
At the ceremony, which was held to present the keys to O’Nekay and her family, Habitat CEO Penny Seater expressed her appreciation for Wharton-Smith and its dedication to building communities.
Congratulations to the Campbell family, and thank you to our volunteers and the Wharton-Smith team.
