On December 13, representatives from Wharton-Smith, Bay Laurel Center CDD, and Kimley Horn joined to celebrate the topping out of the Bay Laurel North Water Reclamation Facility in Ocala, Florida. See pictures and video from the event.
The ceremony, signifying the highest structural point in the project being reached, featured custom project t-shirts, dozens of donated raffle prizes, and catering from Mission BBQ.
“We’d like to recognize the biggest reason we are here, which is all of the men and women employed by our trusted partners providing the materials and executing the trades,” said Senior Project Manager Curtis Matte. “Without every one of these individuals, the success of this project would not be possible. The greatest testament to these unsung heroes will be the work in place you see around this facility today.”
The project, featuring a new water reclamation facility that can handle 2.5 MGD, will replace an overburdened facility capable of only 1.25 MGD. Bay Laurel CDD, who will own and operate the facility, is averaging approximately 100 new service connections monthly, averaging 15,000 gallons per day added to the system.
