On March 8, representatives from Brevard Public Schools, Wharton-Smith, Tsark Architecture, Spiezle Architectural Group, the City of West Melbourne, and students and staff of the West Melbourne School for Science celebrated the groundbreaking of the school’s new S.T.E.A.M. and music building. The ceremony, commencing with a beautiful musical performance by the West Melbourne School for Science Choir, was led by West Melbourne School for Science Principal Theresa Benson alongside Student Council members who were able to partake in the throwing of the dirt.
“This expansion will not only allow more students to attend and experience our school, our incredible faculty, and our S.T.E.A.M. focus, but it will also impact and expand the minds of not only our current students but our future students to think bigger,” Benson said.
“Wharton-Smith is extremely proud to be participating in this transformative project for West Melbourne School for Science and the surrounding community,” said Project Executive Johnathan Wilkes. “This new state-of-the-art facility has a specialized S.T.E.A.M. focus, providing these students with an amazing educational experience.”
The project is slated for completion in January 2025.
