On March 28, representatives from Charlotte County, including Sheriff Bill Prummell and Fire Chief Jason Fair, joined Wharton-Smith for the groundbreaking ceremony of the new Charlotte County Sheriff’s Office District 4 Headquarters and K-9 Training Facility. See photos.
The new, over 20,000 SF building will sit on the current training site, which includes an existing firing range. The center will be a hub for training within the agency and hosting other agencies looking to take advantage of the new state-of-the-art facility. Schenkel-Shultz is the architect of the project.
“This project has been in the works for Charlotte County and the surrounding community for over ten years,” said Senior Project Manager Chuck Hardwick. “The southern portion of Charlotte County is becoming one of the fastest growing areas in southwest Florida, and this facility has been planned to accommodate the growth of the community and the agency. Our project team, consisting of Area Superintendent Chad Roeder, Ops Coordinator Lindsey Fitzgerald, Assistant Superintendent Jay Etienne, Field Engineer Coordinator Chris Estrada, and myself, are very proud of this project and honored to be assisting Charlotte County with its fulfillment of this vision.”
The project is slated to be completed in May 2025.
