Over a month-long period, the Wharton-Smith corporate office hosted a school supply drive to benefit Tools 4 Seminole Schools, a Foundation for Seminole County Public Schools program.
Tools 4 Seminole Schools provides teachers and administrators with free school supplies, backpacks, and more for their classrooms, schools, and students in need. About 50% of students in Seminole County – over 33,000 – participate in the free and reduced meals program. Of this number, more than 3,000 are identified as homeless. Many families struggle to provide backpacks and school supplies for their children. Tools 4 Seminole Schools exist to help alleviate this burden.
“Thank you to everyone who donated school supplies this year,” said Area Manager Rick Bundy, who also serves on the Foundation for SCPS board. “Tools 4 Seminole Schools exemplifies what it means to build communities, and it’s always an honor for us to be able to help out where we live, work, and play.”
A few team members were able to deliver the supplies to the Tools 4 Seminole Schools store and assist in sorting the donations to help the Foundation.
