On September 12, Wharton-Smith and Lake County Schools joined in celebrating all of the subcontractors and craftsmen who have been building the new Minneola “FF” K8 Area Relief Campus at the Topping Out Ceremony. See photos.
Guests were treated to a delicious lunch and received commemorative t-shirts and an entry into a raffle, which included prizes of various gift cards, coolers, tools, speakers, and several big-screen TVs! Keeping with tradition, a tree was raised to the top of the structure, where it will later be planted on site. Attendees also signed a tilt wall panel, embedding their names into the foundation of the school.
Addressing the crowd, Senior Project Manager Ariel Rolon said, “I just want to thank the entire team for their hard work and dedication in bringing this project to life. It’s because of your efforts that we’ve reached this significant milestone!”
The yet-to-be-named school will be built to serve around 1,200 students, helping to alleviate overcrowding at nearby schools and to accommodate the increasing population in Minneola. This will be Wharton-Smith’s third K-8 school built in partnership with Lake County Schools. The school is expected to be completed in the Summer of 2025.
