On June 5-6, over 60 Wharton-Smith interns across all 11 regional offices gathered at the Sanford headquarters for a two-day fun and educational experience. See photos.
The event kicked off in style with an after-work social at Decision Tactical, a local indoor theme park offering shooting range simulators, competition courses, and more. Our interns had the chance to get to know one another as well as executives from across the company.
The next morning, after a catered breakfast, the group participated in a Q&A session with Vice President of Collaborative Delivery Nate Hillard, who also began his career with Wharton-Smith as an intern 21 years ago. After a quick safety briefing from Corporate Safety Director Travis Chaput, everyone put on their PPE and went down the road to the Southwest Regional Water Reclamation Facility in DeBary, an active Wharton-Smith jobsite.
There, interns experienced a firsthand look at the planning, collaboration, and execution required for the job as they toured the site and sat down with project staff. Representatives from Volusia County were also on hand to talk about the relationship with Wharton-Smith and specifics on the importance of the facility.
To wrap up the day, everyone came together for a closing lunch and information session, leaving with a better understanding of Wharton-Smith as a whole and how their roles contribute to our shared success.
Investing in our interns is an investment in our future. We can’t wait to see what this remarkable group will accomplish in the weeks, months, and years ahead.
